Do you know that song? It’s been stuck in my head all morning while writing this and honestly, it makes me smile. So consider me smiling while typing to you.
I’m almost four weeks into my self-declared glow-up challenge. (If you missed it: I mixed my genetic testing results with ChatGPT’s brutal honesty and my own brain to design a new training plan). The rule? Train every day. No full rest days, just active recovery.
At first, I thought: No way. I’m 45. My body will never hold up to daily training.
But here we are: four weeks in, and my body feels fine. Monitored every step with my Ultrahuman ring, stretched, yoga’d, accessory worked…and it’s working.
And the lesson?
I was playing it safe. I was proud of being “fit for my age.” But maybe “fit for my age” is just another comfort zone.
Then I look at Pete, the Masters CrossFit Games athlete who trains next to me at Alioth. He’s 62. He placed 4th in the world in his age group. He isn’t training to be average for 62. He’s training to be elite. And he’s still improving. 🤯
That hit me:
Where else am I – are we – playing it safe?
Maybe in the gym. Maybe at work. Maybe in life.
So here’s my challenge to you this week:
Find the spot where you’ve been coasting. And turn the dial. Relight the fire. (Yes, now Take That is stuck in my head 🙈).
And if you want someone to kickstart that glow-up with you? Book a session at The Leadership Clinic. Let’s do it together: whether it’s your career, your visibility, your next big move or your training and recovery.
Because average-for-your-age isn’t the goal. Becoming the best version of you is.
